The Game Boy Color is an enhanced model of the Game Boy which has the ability to display color graphics, first released in 1998. It was backwards compatible with all Game Boy games, and also could play certain exclusive titles. Some games were released to be playable on the original Game Boy but have enhancements when played on the Game Boy Color, often denoted by a black cartridge shell. The system was succeeded by the Game Boy Advance.
Games
Due to being backwards compatible with the original Game Boy, Balloon Kid is playable on this system. There is also Balloon Fight GB, which is a remake of Balloon Kid featuring color graphics when played on a Game Boy Color.
There are also a handful of games which have Balloon Fight references:
- Game Boy Camera (February 21, 1998) - Several sounds used in the application are copied from Balloon Kid.
- Game & Watch Gallery 3 (August 4, 1999) - The Balloon Fight Game & Watch can be seen in the museum after collecting enough stars.
- Chee-Chai Alien (February 23, 2001) - One of the unlockable minigames, known as Kuufuku Hikou, is based on Balloon Trip.
