Donkey Konga 3: Tabehōdai! Haru Mogitate 50 Kyoku is a rhythm game for the Nintendo GameCube developed by Namco, the same developers behind the Taiko no Tatsujin series. While the first two Donkey Konga games were also released internationally, this game was only released in Japan.
The game is a fairly standard rhythm game, where the player must input a series of notes to the beat of a song. The player can choose to either play using a standard controller or using the Donkey Konga controller, which is modeled after a pair of Congas. In either control scheme, there are four types of notes which will appear to the beat of the song. There is left hits, right hits, both simultaneously, or claps. Each type of note also has a drumroll variant where the player needs to hit that input as many times as possible. While claps are simply controlled by the shoulder buttons on a standard controller, the Konga controller uses a microphone to hear the player clapping.
As the player plays songs within the story mode and earns medals, they eventually unlock several songs from Famicom games. One of the later songs the player will unlock is the Balloon Trip and Bonus Stage theme from Balloon Fight.
