Balloon Fight Wiki

Balloon Kid was released on the 3DS as a Virtual Console title, featuring the same standard additions to Game Boy Virtual Console titles.

This port was only available in countries where the game was released originally. While Japan never got this version, they did get a similar Virtual Console release of Balloon Fight GB. North America got the game first on November 3rd, 2011 for $2.99, and Europe got it two months later on January 26th, 2012 for £2.69.

As with most 3DS virtual console releases, this game features the ability to save and load from restore points or reset the game using the menu on the touch screen. Also, if you hold the start button while the game is loading, the screen will shrink down so that each pixel of the game's screen takes up one pixel of the 3DS screen. To fill the empty space, a border of an original Game Boy is added.

During the lifespan of the Miiverse social media service, there were two dedicated communities for this release, separated by region. Players would be able to post screenshots from the game and discuss the game through text posts, though the service shut down in 2017.

However, there is no way to connect to another 3DS for multiplayer, making VS. play inaccessible, although the option is still listed on the title screen.
